Bad News
Last week I lost my best mate, Keg suddenly when some idiot decided to throw a dog bait over my fence.
I found keg in terrible condition when I got home from work in the afternoon. He was completely paralysed, unable to even wag his tail. I rushed him to the vet in a desperate attempt to save him and had every hope he'd pull through. As I walked out of the room to let the vet work, Keg gave a sad mournful howl and i felt terrible for having to leave him alone. 1 hour later, Keg suffered a massive heart attack brought on by the toxins in his system that had caused the shut down of most of his major organs.
Needless to say, I am absolutely beside myself and furious that someone could do this to ANY dog, knowing the horrible things it does. The police have been involved but unfortunately there's not much they can do.
So enjoy the pics that I have up of Keg, the sweet puppy who made friends with a goat on his first day at work, who grew up to be the best dog I'd ever owned. Rest in peace friend... XXOO
*****NEW DEVELOPMENTS*****
The vet that treated Keg has given us the results from the blood tests. It was found that Keg's system was poisoned with a product that the vet identified as Anti-Freeze. He has since treated two other dogs that presented with the same poisoning and unfortunately, both have also died. it was found that these dogs had ingested bread soaked in Anti-Freeze. He passed this info to the local police station and has posted a warning in the local papers in an attempt to help prevent any further baiting.
Yesterday, the police arrested a man while he was breaking into a home. The home belonged to the owners of one of the poisoned dogs. Apparantly, this guy has been baiting dogs and then attempting to break into the homes when the dogs were out of the way. We're going to be required to give evidence and make statements etc... about what happened to Keg.
Hopefuly, this is the end of it and we can have some closure. My heart goes out to the families that lost their dogs to this maniac and I hope he gets everything the legal system can throw at him. Thanks to everyone for their kind words and comments, it makes me feel so much better knowing that there are people out there who still care...

I have just read about the terrible thing which happened to Keg. Can't imagine what kind of person would do such a thing. I'm sure you and Osca are lost without him. Some people think dogs don't grieve but they do in my experience. Love the photos and I hope these will be a comfort to you as I know it has when I have lost a beardie.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that. It's just plain obscene! I know there's not much anyone can do, but I hope the criminal who did this gets run over by a bus - or better still, that someone puts rat poison in his sandwich so he can understand the horrible thing he did.

I was looking at photos of Bearded Collies (I am an artist) and happened upon your post. I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that someone murdered your beautiful Bearded Collie. Someone poisoned my mini Aussie. Fortunately we were able to save her but it was a really close call. She was poisoned with antifreeze. We think someone soaked a piece of bread with it and tossed it to her. God Bless you and I truly believe in the saying, "what goes around, comes around" and that evil person will get it in the end.
