Beardie peeing when son comes home

My 1 year old Beardie Nikki loves chasing the laser, loves treats. But when my son Michael comes to visit she gets so excited and she pees. Sometimes a little pee but also sometimes lately she lets it go and now she is a little jelaous of my wife and pees on our bed. Doctor says she will work out of it. Our old dog in her old age took some medicine when she started peeing around (it said HcL or something like that) and that worked great.

It sounds like "submissive" peeing. She will get over it, but keep her out of the bedroom or at least crated in the bedroom if you insist she sleep in the same room with you. My almost 2-year old beardie had a problem with this at first, but it did go away after awhile. Did not have to medicate for this and would not reommend you do this for a dog so young. I had on Old English that did this. It took a while but we got her over it. Also make sure she doesn't have an infection.

Work on "confidence" games with her. Play tug and let her win, that kind of thing. Also work on having her sit when anyone comes into the house and don't make a big deal about it either. Lots of treats and quiet praise as long as she is sitting. Once Michael is on the house, have him sit down and then ignore her! After a while if she comes to him, wait till she sits in front of him, slip her a treat and quietly tell her she is good. It will take a while, but slow and quiet is the best way.
