Until recently, two, Keg and Osca. Keg recently passed away and now it's just me and Osca.
How long have you owned Bearded Collies?
3 years
About Me:
What can I say? I'm a beardie nut!!! I live with my fiance in the Hunter valley in Australia. It's a region renouned for it's wine production YUM! I'm getting used to being owned by Beardies and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Hi Amanda!
Maizie Marbles McGraw is now seven...she's been a certified pet therapy dog for over a year now. We took the training course through Therapy Dogs International (TDI) which is based in Flanders New Jersey. There are courses offered in various places, we took ours in New York. The training is about 3-4 months, once a week. The dog is first "handled" by the instructor to see if the dog is a candidate for the class...dogs that are obedient, can stay, don't flinch when loud noises happen, listen to their owners, can resist food on the floor while walking very near to it, and do not growl, bark, at people or other pet therapy dogs they may encounter in their working environment, are probably going to do well in becoming certified. Maizie is very complacent and gentle...she enjoys visiting children in hospitals, elderly patients in nursing homes, and assisted living environments. Patients, family members, nurses, doctors, and general staff all enjoy the brief moments she offers of respite from an otherwise sad and discouraging time. Maizie has also visited at 11th hour patients bedsides...getting right up in bed to comfort and sleep along side of the patient as they ease away to the end of life...it has been extraordinarily rewarding for me and as I say, it is the "best job" I have ever had...Maizie gets dressed up too...holidays she is festive and funny looking...always sure to give a smile to people...give it a try...the more dogs there are to spread joy the better!!! Thanks for writing...
Congrats on the holiday entitlement!! :D I am embarrassed to say in the majority of those photos I am intoxicated sorry lol.
Funny you should say about knitting a jumper because once we met a man with a beardie who said his wife once knitted him a jumper from the beardie hair to wear when he went fishing because it was warm and helped keep the rain off!! I often think of it, I think you can send the hair to be cleaned and made into ?yarn? - you know twisted up so you can knit it?
I am good thanks, read my discussion about the groomer. I would tell you here but I dont want to write it all again! She was very nice and does a good job as well as giving reasonable prices :D always a bonus!
Hi, I have attempted to add you on FB, although I could have added a random Amanda so fingers crossed lol!
George is good, off to the groomers today! I am going to ask her to trim between his pads as I have had no luck due to him being extremely ticklish there! Good luck to her haha!!
He likes going though and prances/struts around afterward. A smug beardie - who'd have thought it!
Hope you have time for a break at work, exciting though no doubt?
Hi Amanda, this must be really distressing for you, I have only come onto this site tonight and had just been looking at your photos on the beach and thinking what a lovely time your dog was having. just think of your happy memories, these scum will get dealt their card with any luck.
