Just joined this site and noticed your query, I read a tip some time ago which I have used successfully on both my beardies, which is to use hydrogen peroxide! I use a very weak solution, 9%, which is available from any chemist or pharmacist, and ju…

Have any beardie lovers out there had to have their beardies anal glands removed due to them rupturing. My beardie Ralph looks like he will have to have them removed and I'm wondering what to expect, but also if there is any other thing we can try t…

Dry food is definetly a reason why it turns brown. Try to dry off his beard everytime he drinks water. I think I heard that the brown is fungus, and it needs wetness to grow... So keep the beard dry, talcumpowder/potatoflower could help dry it too.…

Hi Lorraine

Glad to hear Ralph got on ok at the vets , Benji got his bath ok though its just a normal bath he gets. Luckily the snow had gone day we took him for his bath but its been back to winter here..snow sleet rain winds! Last Sunday Benji and us were drowned rats after getting caught in hailstones..so much for Spring!
Well done your boys and hope they did well in the semis today.
Not seen our neighbour to talk to since her husband went but did catch his daughter who had popped in to see the dogs and he got there fine but is sad (her words).Iain was made redundant from the paper mill then he was a bus driver in Edinburgh but left to work locally when it was dodgy doing night shift in the capital so i guess he would try and get a bus drivers job out in Perth, Susan is a social worker so doubt she have much bother in getting a job anywhere. Do feel sorry for them all and hope it works out but must be so hard with Iain there and Susan here.
Hope you have had a good week and enjoyed your meal. Last couple of days been watching Crufts on a webcast and really enjoyed watching the flyball and heel to music..Pixie the cat didnt like it arched her back and hissed at the screen haha whilst Benji just put his nose on the screen!
Hope all is well your end and hugs to Ralph
Take care
Sue

Hi Lorraine
Hope you have had a good week and not been too busy at work. Cant believe we are nearly into March where do the days go ?
Hope also Ralph got on ok at the vets, does he have a bath there? Benji is off on Wednesday for his bath,we take him to a groomer in Oakley, she also groomed Barney and is lovely. Cop out I know but much easier to take him for bath and she only charges a tenner for a bath and a brush ..have bathed Benji myself but takes 2 of us haha. I do brush him regularly and at mo still has some puppy coat but hes getting more and more grey.
Well we got a bit of shock this week as my neighbour (Iain) is off to Perth in Australia on Sunday with the view of getting a job and staying. His wife (Susan)all being well will follow once house etc is sorted. Its been on the cards for a while the move but Iain got made redundant before Xmas and just cant get a job here.Still a shock though as he only booked his ticket last weekend! I can understand them moving but not taking their animals I cant! They have 2 dogs and 2 cats, dogs are a german shepherd Kiera age 6/7 and a pup Gizmo(cross lhaso/shitzu)about 8mths. Feel really sorry for Kiera as they lost a dog last year and she pined but since getting the pup shes got a new lease of life. I couldnt go and not take my animals! They are talking about maybe taking Gizmo but to be honest I cant see it, was speaking to Susan today and said if we could we would take them on but we have 2 cats and Kiera and their cats would go for them but we could take Gizmo so we will just have to wait and see what happens. Benji and Gizmo have tried digging under the fence to get to each other so know they would get on but Keira isnt too keen on Benji either runs away from him or has a sneaky growl. Its just so sad that the dogs whatever happens will be split up. Sorry rambled on there but like I said I couldnt leave my animals nor split them up.
Glad to say we have had some sunshine this week and been out cutting some bits back in the garden, needless to say I got help from Benji :0)
Hope you and yours are ok and Ralph too. Take care
Sue

Hi Lorraine
Hope yer boys won at cricket and Ralph didnt play catch too much with the ball ;0)) Benji is fast asleep, he's had a good day a big run in the woods and also been chasing the broom whilst we tried to sweep the garden path! Been a nice dry weekend here but no where as hot as yours ;0)! Take care..nose kiss for Ralph

Hi Lorraine
Great pics of Ralph, bet you are over the moon he got to live with you :0) You keep his coat lovely too. Benji still has some puppy coat and getting grey strands. Ralph and Benji look like they both enjoy helping make the bed too though sometimes Benjis help is not advised ;0))
You wouldn't recognise Glenrothes now and the shopping centre is looking sad with many shops shut down, shame as we used to love the fresh fish shop.
Thought our pets were well travelled moving from down in Hampshire to here nearly 7 years ago, hubby is a Fifer but i am the honorary Jock :0) Barney who we lost last year took the journey in his stride but hubby brought the 2 cats up the week before and they were noisy! Female cat did the journey twice as she came down from here as a kitten then back up when we moved.
I will definitely look up where you have lived on the internet.
Dont know if you are interested in another Beardie site but I also belong to www.beardedcollies.org.uk (Friendly Beardie Collie site) which is a great too.
Take care Sue
