As a groomer if someone came to me and asked for a puppy cut/teddy bear cut I go through it with them to establish exactly how short or long, same length all over and what they want me to do with the tail and head. I dont mind if the client shows me…
Would you mind if I ask how you explained to the groomer how you wanted your dog's hair cut? I, too, would like a "puppy cut" for my dog but can't find anyone who knows how that should be properly done.

- Hi I live in Devon, Torbay. We have loads of great beaches where my Beardie loves to go and swim, I also hae lucy who is x retriever/ collie. I have had Amy my beardie for 3 years and love her to bits. I am considering having her clipped but unsure I love her long flowing locks, but as we go to the beach most days she has to be showered every time and brushed which she really hates, always have since a pup. I am looking for others who have had their beardies clipped short and any pics please.

I posted for advice on clipping a beardie. well i eventualy went for the shop, I am so glad I did as Amy is a different dog she has more energy and can swim in the sea as often as she likes, we go to the woods every day even muddy days and she comes home covered in mud as she loves to roll in wet mud but a quick shower and she is ready to lie and rest instead of a long shower and hours of brushing and drying she is a happier dog.

George hated being brushed after years of being clipped but i have seen such an improvement by rewarding with treats and not giving him an inch i.e. not letting him escape if he wriggles. also break it into areas - do one half of one side then let her have a break and maybe some food then go again to do more etc.
I am wondering if you would find it easier to manage it all if you found the grooming easy? Are you in the SCBCC? I am and have found the members very helpful with advice and visits to help me.

Alison Ransom (on this site) lives in Devon, you may have met her if you are in BCC, I think she is very nice and may help. There is also Jason and Jane Scott on the site also who are in the committee and live in Willand I think, they are lovely people.
I can give you emails and numbers if you dont have access to them. you may just want to clip but having had a trimmed beardie i think its so much nicer long :D
